TwD - Tiger Cakes
Our Tuesdays with Dorie recipe this week is the intriguingly named Tiger Cakes. Apparently these cakes are common all over France, and are normally served upside down with a rosette of ganache on top.
I am not so sure about their looking tiger - like:
At a stretch, they could be said to resemble a leopard's spots. However, it's a fun name anyway.
These cakes taste delightful - loved this recipe with egg whites, almond meal, chocolate and a scant amount of flour. They taste good just slightly warm while the chocolate is still soft. I would make these again.
To see what the others thought of these cakes, visit the LYL section of the TWD website.

I was expecting stripey cakes but I would happily eat one or two of these whatever the name
OOh I've never heard of these before! They sound delicious! :D
I've never heard of these but they are cute! I would re-name then leopard cakes too though :D
Oooh, I love how speckled yours are. I agree, they were so delicious!

They look good. We loved them and the were all gone before I could even think of ganach.
Yeah... not so much on the tiger, but definitely delicious!
Yours look fantastic (and so much more "animal like" than mine cos, ahem, I didn't follow the instructions!)
I question the name like you do, so I did something differently. Your cakes are perfect. The ganache makes them sweeter. I'll be happy to do without the ganache.
I had a wretched time getting mine out of the pans! I think I need to bake them longer-----or invest in silicone. Yours look great!
Your cakes look great! I think we should call them leopard cakes, too.
the chocolate pieces made me think of a cheetah but a leopard is accurate too! I used the ganache but I think it was a little overpowering, maybe next time I will leave them naked like yours.
I can't stop eating these. I have been savoring one each day. Loved them and will definitely make again.
Leopard Cakes! That is spot on :)
Yours look great!
your leopard cakes look beautiful!
They look perfect, and no matter what they are called, they are delicious.
I really want to see what the "tiger effect" is supposed to be, because mine definitely didn't have stripes. Stripes or not, these were so good!
I agree, not very tiger-like but delicious nonetheless.
Well, those tiger cakes are so cute, stripes or not. I once made tiger rolls and they had spots like giraffe spots so I thought that was sort of strange that they were called tiger rolls. Maybe these people naming these recipes have no idea what a tiger really looks like, lol! Yours look delicious.
