"Rawies" - Date, almond and coconut balls
In the March 2015 issue of Taste magazine, they published a recipe for no-bake "rawies" - which are effectively date, almond and coconut balls. Taste has also published the recipe online here.
When I tasted the unchilled ball mixture, I thought it was a little sweet, and was worried about whether I'd like them. However, once the balls had chilled, the ingredients melded together nicely, and the sweetness of the dates had toned down significantly when mixed and melded with the other ingredients.
These make a great snack when you really want a boost to keep you going, but don't want to have a blowout. They will be in constant rotation in my kitchen.

I've been on a hunt for a good and healthy snack, Gaye. I may just need to check this out! Thanks for sharing, Gaye...
ooooo, I just checked out the ingredients, Gaye! I'm sold! Thanks!
We've made lots of these balls using other recipes. When he was a child, Mr NQN had giant ones made into a birthday cake! :P
I saw this recipe but I thought they used roasted almonds so was feeling that perhaps the name wasn't quite right - glad to hear they are tasty though
What a lovely treat! Looks really healthy!
I love these kinds of snacks :) I'm glad you enjoyed them once chilled.
