FFWD - Orange & Olive Salad

French Friday with Dorie this week has an unusual offering - Orange & Olive Salad.  This is pretty much what it says on the tin - oranges, olives, red onion, olive oil, salt and pepper.

I didn't really like this much - the salty flavours did not go with the orange on my palate, but other people enjoyed it, so there you go.

To see what the other Doristas made of this dish, visit the LYL section of the website.

This is a pretty salad and I do think I would like it. I like the salty with fruit.
Happy holidays. xo Catherine

I don't think I've ever tried that combo-it certainly looks interesting!

I like the idea of it but am not sure if it would be too in-your-face for me - I might need it to hide in some baby spinach leaves! Shame though that you didn't have some stodgy winter dish while the weather here seems almost wintery :-)

I enjoyed this one, surprisingly!

Very pretty despite the lukewarm review! Merry Christmas, my friend!

It is not surprising that this didn't work for you. I think this a love or hate kind of salad.

I liked it, but as part of breakfast/brunch or a snack. I don't see myself eating this as a side dish for sure!

I had a recipe similar to that from a Mexican cookbook, with chili powder in the dressing, but no olives.

I'm surprised at how often you don't like the recipes you make for this blog event, and wonder why you don't move on to a different cookbook author whose taste is more like yours?

I didn't really like it either. Oh, well. At least it was easy. Merry Christmas, Gaye!

I think that's the shortest post I've ever seen a Dorista write. And, you were very clear and made your point. (That's the lawyer in you, I think.) At least you tried and came out of the experience with a definite opinion. Nothing wishy-washy about it.

I like this dish and am making it again tonight for DH's dinner (he is on a diet!) and might just use capers instead of olives! At least others at your table enjoyed their portions!

Sorry this one was not a winner for you. I surprisingly enjoyed it! I love the salty sweet combo.
Merry Christmas, Gaye! Hope to meet you in the New Year!

This recipe was not to our taste, but the citrus was refreshing. Merry Christmas to you, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

This is why we should live closer and eat together, I could eat the things you didn't like, like this, and you could eat all my chocolate things! :-) I think this salad looks absolutely wonderful. So pretty.

I didn't think these would go with my palate either that is why I didn't make it. I liked my soup though. Happy holidays down under:)

Sorry it wasn't a hit for you. It was for us, surprisingly, once I convinced my partner to taste it.
