Nutella Banana Bread


Do you ever buy ingredients for one thing and they end up hanging around forever?  That was the case with me and my jar of Nutella - I bought it for a Dorie recipe, and months later, it was still in the pantry cupboard, staring at me accusingly. 

However, there was a feature in the newspaper on tea loaves this week, sourced from various blogs, and lo and behold, what did I spy but Nutella Banana Bread - perfect!  Something that sounded delicious that I could use up my Nutella making, and practical enough to transport to work without a hitch.

This bread is very simple to make, but make sure you grease your cake tin well - unfortunately the chocolate batter stuck a little, and I ended up tearing my cake.  No matter - I glued it back together with chocolate icing:



Accordingly, if chocolate and banana float your boat, or you just want to use up your Nutella, like me, you could do much worse than give this bread a go.

What a great idea for banana bread. I don't buy nutella generally speaking, but might for the specific purpose of making this!

mmm chocolate and nutella in cake! I don't think I could keep nutella that long - it would just get me in a moment of weakness

Yes, I have done that, buy an ingredient and then forget what I bought it for usually is the scenario...I need to make a list and tick it off when I use it. Note to self to do that from now on. Nutella would have been removed on the first day by Matt around here...he loves it and eats it with pretzels as a dip...lol. I have to hide Nutella when we have it for recipes...shhhh...it's in the canister marked Lentils in the pantry. Don't tell! If I don't hide it, it's not there when I need it.

Looks delicious, love the marbley effect! I do that all the time - peanut butter is the main culprit but it's happened with Nutella in the past - I always have bananas hanging around too so will bear this in mind!
