This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe is the last one from Baking with Dorie. It is the Lisbon Chocolate Cake.
This cake is a chocolate mud stule cake topped with a mousse like ganache topping. It contains as much chocolate and cream as you are imagining.
My cake is not remotely like the elegant dessert pictured in the book. However, it tasted good - the base cake is dense and chocolatey and rich, while the topping is creamy and smooth.

looks lush! so fun baking with you through another book--we did it!
Your cake looks delish! Another Dorie cookbook is finished, so on to the next one!
Thank you! Yes, we did it 🙌 Thanks for organising this group through another book.
Thanks! Yes indeed, an achievement for us all.
Your cake looks exactly like one that Mark would love to sit down to anytime, all chocolatey and rich. He really liked this, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be making this one again. Always fun baking/cooking with you all these years. Honestly, I think I love seeing your plates and things as much as the food...through the years they have come to be a familiar sight and I always enjoy when I recognize a certain plate or dish, you know, like I was actually used to stopping by and eating off said plate or dish...a very homey feeling. Now, onto the cakes...I've been setting the bar low over there but I've been catching up so I think I only have 3-4 that I am in need of making so I'm going to get caught up very soon. You will be shocked. lol
This cake for everyone was not a looker but it's the taste that counts, all that chocolatey goodness.
Congrats on finishing the cookbook! So fun to bake with you. I think yours looks just like everyone’s…it isn’t really a showstopper so much on looks as on taste and it was delicious! (Kim)
