TWD - Soft-Centered Chocolate Teacup Cakes

For Tuesday with Dorie this fortnight, I made Soft-Centered Chocolate Teacup Cakes.  These are what I would call chocolate fondants - chocolate spongey cake puddings with a gooey chocolate centre (see top photo).

This dessert needs to be eaten warm so that the centre stays gooey.  I made just one, because with 50g of chocolate in each one and no-one else to share these with, I don't think making the full batch was a great idea.

This little pudding was delicious - rich and decadent, with the soft chocolate sponge hiding the warm gooey chocolate centre.  Delicious!

To see what the others thought of this recipe (or the other recipe this month, a panna cotta), visit the LYL section of the TWD website.

sounds great - I always mean to make these sort of puddings - but they always seem so decadent! So I just drool over them instead

These were so good, huh?
FYI I made mine and finished baking them around 5.30pm. Photographed them at 5.50pm and ate them at 8pm - the centre was still gooey (but the cake was not hot). Good to know, right? ;)

I love the sound of these. A gooey centre is such a nice surprise! :D

We had leftovers since it is just me and my husband, and microwaved the leftovers for 15 seconds and it turned out perfectly reheated. I thought they were incredibly delicious too!

I found out, like you did, that the cake tasted better warm. Making the cake for one can be so easily done with this recipe. I like that!

I don't blame you for making just one - they were hard to resist!

I am sure that this recipe is going to make my chocolate lover very happy. A little vanilla ice cream seems like a good idea too!

Oh Gaye, if you only knew how I long for something oozy, gooey and decadent! Like you, I would have to make this little treasure for one. (Marion has her ice cream, lol...

Thank you so much for sharing, Gaye...It's getting late over here so it's quite possible I may be dreaming about it:)

I can't have chocolate, but my friends can and I make what I call Nigella's Runny Puddings, which are in fact a fondant. Do you ever turn yours out?? I never do, I am not confident they would stay intact. One for you is perfect!!

I don't think I could make just one. I would make more for later, even if it was just for me. I like your self discipline.

A perfect solo treat! I only made enough for the two of us, also because I didn't want to be tempted to eat an extra!

Your cake looks very chocolaty in that cup. I've been getting quite a dose of chocolate from the hot chocolate panna cotta so I think making one was a great idea.

These look great and I love the name 'teacup cakes' - it's not one I've heard before but it's a cute term.

Just one? Wise idea! I only made 2 myself and wow, they were rich! Great job!

These were good. I only made two and that was plenty for the two of us. Yours look perfect.

Those little chocolate teacup cakes are so cute...your description of them is nice as I wondered what all that was about. Fun to make and serve!
