FFWD - Roasted Peppers


This week's bright and colourful French Fridays with Dorie dish is Roasted Peppers.  Yes, it is simple, but it is very tasty.

Basically, you just roast capsicums (peppers) of your choosing for an hour, then peel off the blistered skin, scrape out the seeds, slice into pieces, and season with olive oil, salt and pepper.  You may also sprinkle some fresh herbs on top (I used parsley and basil).  Not bad!

You can eat these as a starter, or as a side, or chop them up and inlcude them in another dish.

I'm crazy for roasted capsicum. I usually put them in a plastic bag after roasting them as it makes taking the skins off easier!

Weren't these easy? Like Lorraine, I also put these in a plastic bag after roasting to help steam the skins. I can't believe I have never made these before - won't be the last time!

My list of things it's better to make at home has grown a lot in this group. Roasted peppers are definitely on it. I love how colourful yours look on the plate.

What a colorful plate of peppers (capsicums)! I love how we have different names for some of the vegetables here and there :) I can't remember. Do you also eat courgettes and aubergines where we have zucchini and eggplants?

Hi Betsy, we have zucchini and eggplants too - the Brits have courgettes and aubergines.

Yours looks pretty and delicious, Gaye. I think you even roasted a green pepper. Is that right. How did it taste. Dorie said they weren't as sweet as the others. Capsicum. Love that word.
