TWD - Szarlotka

This week’s Tuesday with Dorie recipe is Szarlotka, or Polish Apple Cake.

This cake contains over a kilo of apples, as well as raisins. The same dough is used for the base and the top.

It is a massive cake, but if you love cooked apple, it is delicious.

To see what everyone else made this week and what they thought of it, visit the LYL section of the TWD website.

It looks pretty with the dark raisins showing through. I used golden ones but the dark ones are far more photogenic. Yours looks delicious.

It's so interesting to see how we get different results following the same recipe. There are visual interest to see the raisins poking out, especially given such a big cake. ~ Shirley

Definitely for the apple lover. I am assuming you took this monster to work.

The raisins look pretty, I didn't use them but wondered about cranberries.... This is a huge cake with a huge effort involved!

Looks great - reminds me a bit of my mum's apple slice in a cake

I went with all apples...which we loved. I like how your raisins poke through...definitely a massive cake, but my husband and I still only got one piece haha. I think we both would have liked another slice :)

I agree! It is always fun to see how everyone gets slightly different results with the same recipe.

It was a heffer! I gave three quarters of it to neighbours and kept a quarter for myself.

Yes, a massive cake and so much peeling and chopping involved. Cranberries would be really nice in this.

Thanks Johanna, it definitely has an apple slice quality.
