Welcome to the first Baking with Julia post. BWJ is the new Tuesdays with Dorie, and there are currently over 300 members. We will only be baking fortnightly, not weekly.
This week's recipe, chosen by Laurie and Jules, is White Loaves. In my case, I only made one loaf.
You make some basic bread dough using a stand mixer and dough, then let it rise for an hour or so:
then you pat it out and shape it before putting onto a loaf tin:
and allow the dough to rise again:
You then bake the dough and hey presto - you get bread:
Delicious, even if I say so myself.
Our hosts Laurie and Jules will have the recipe for the white loaves. And to see lots of other white loaves, visit the LYL section of the Baking with Julia website.

Wish I had been so smart...Should have let this bread do double duty...but it has all been eaten. Fun to be in another group with you.
Very nice! I only made 1 loaf as well. It went pretty well for me and it tasted lovely.

I decided to do the same thing! Great minds!
BTW, since your photos look so great, did you know you can widen your column & make them bigger? Just select: Design/Template Designer/Adjust widths.

Oh, I wish I had thought of making the tartine and doing a cross-over episode. Beautiful bread!
Your loaves turned out spectacular! I like that they have the humps on the side. Mine didn't get those as much.
Oh, yours did grow over the sides of the pan! I love the shape of your bread. I have two loaf pans like that and will make the bread in them next time to see if I can get that shape. Your nutella terrine looks mighty delicious!
