TWD - Coffee-break muffins


This week's Tuesday with Dorie was hosted by Rhiani of Chocoholic Anonymous. She chose Dorie's Coffee-Break muffins.

These muffins are little coffee-flavoured morsels that are definitely not sweet, designed to go with your coffee or to be toasted for breakfast. In Australia, we generally don't toast sweet muffins (only the English kind), so I am always intrigued when this practice is mentioned.

I wanted to love these (especially as I was keeping them for my lunch), but I only found them OK. This means that they probably won't feature in my recipe rotation. However, a lot of other TWD members did love these - you can check out their take on these muffins at the TWD blogroll. Thanks to Rhiani for hosting us this week - she will have the recipe.

I don't like sweet stuff in the morning, so I'm intrigued. I'll probably just end up sticking to my morning ritual of coffee and fruit :P But these do sound like a good "elevensies" pick-me-up.

I've never tried toasting this kind of muffin either. Too bad these weren't a hit with you, but they look nice in the pink papers!

I've always found the sweet muffin toasting thing curious as well, but I would never eat a sweet muffin for breakfast so perhaps I just don't get it.

They look great! I don't tend to drink a lot of coffee but I do love coffee flavoured things :)

I often toast muffins the second day. We really liked this recipe, but I tweaked it with extra coffee and chocolate chips.

Sorry these didn't wow you! They look great in their cute liners. I've never heard of toasting muffins, either!

Didn't toast mine either. In fact i reckon the extra heating would further de-sensitise our taste for sweetness.

Well, they look really great, love those wrappers...so pretty. I liked these muffins and I don't like coffee, go figure. BTW, those decorated sugar cookie butterflies are gorgeous...really really beautiful, great job on those!!
