Another Tuesday rolls around and it's Tuesday with Dorie time again. Our host this week is Michelle of Flourchild, who chose Dorie's Honey Wheat Cookies.
For me, these were a welcome change from a very chocolatey month. I wasn't so sure about the wheatgerm, as this is not a pantry staple for me, but I am glad I made these. They reminded me of a sweet version of Arnotts Shredded Wheatmeal biscuits, and I found them rather comforting and not overly sweet.
I am not sure how Dorie got 36 x 1 inch balls out of the dough - I barely got 22 cookies. However, this is a minor quibble about a delicious recipe that I think would be a great semi-healthy alternative for kids.

Are these cookies healthy? I'm intrigued...
Love Shredded Wheatmeal and love honey, so these sound yummy!
These were a nice change!
Such a pretty plate your delicious looking cookies are on! I loved these. Not too sweet, chewy, crunchy, delicious!
I love shredded wheatmeal biscuits so thanks for this! I agree, they're really comforting (and so suited to being dunked in tea) :)
This sound like a cookie i would love to try-after an overdose of chocolate-ur rite....
Strange as it may sound, I love wheatgerm - great recipe idea! Yours look perfect for an afternoon healthy snack!
Yours look great, love your plate :) I thought these were pretty good!
Colour me impressed - biscuits that are both yummy and healthy!
These look yummy! I passed on the lemon and honey and used maple syrup instead.
I always have trouble with cookie yields-mine differ greatly from what the cookbook says.
These look great!!!!
Your cookies look great! These were a pleasant surprise for me too. Who would have thought, wheat germ . . .
These were a little sweet for me, but I love the texture and the wheat germ on the outside. I didn't count how many I got and now it's too late because we ate a bunch!
As much as I love chocolate, this was a welcome change. Pretty cookies on a pretty plate.
BTW James Taylor was/is a folk singer from the early 70s. Known as Sweet Baby James, he is still around.
I seem to be eating a lot of things with honey in them at the moment, so I may as well add these to the list! 'Comforting and not overly sweet' sounds like just what I'm after.
Great looking cookies. They must taste great.
You're right. They were a nice change of pace considering all of the chocolate we did in February! Nice job.
I bet these would be delicious with a cup of tea.
*kisses* HH

The cookies look wonderful and I love that plate they are resting upon. We loved these...perfect with tea as the honey and lemon are already built right in...what a great deal!
