TWD - Apple Speculoos Crumble

The second Tuesdays with Dorie recipe from Baking Chez Moi this month is Apple Speculoos Crumble.  This is apple crumble with a twist - namely, that the crumble is made from crumbled speculoos biscuits and butter.

I used gingernut biscuits instead of speculoos, as I already had them in the house.  I also used the optional nuts with the apple, in my case, almonds.  I made two ramekin sized serves instead of one big one.

This  dessert was OK, but I think I like traditional apple crumble better.

To see what the others made this week, visit the LYL section of the TWD website.

Oh what a shame! I was hoping that you would say that this was better but of course the other one is :D

Sorry to hear you didn't like it, but then we all have those moments. I know I sure do! There will always be another!

I am making this for American Thanksgiving on Thursday. Will see how it goes over.

Gingernut cookies - now there's a blast from the past! I liked this in a pinch - easy to make and tasted great!

some days it seems like "if it aint broke don't fix it" with traditional recipes but there is always the temptation to fiddle - this sounds worth a try to me

Those ginger cookies sound like a great alternative to speculoos - I think I would have enjoyed your crunble very much.

Your crumble looks great! But I agree, I prefer a traditional crumble.

I'm sorry you didn't love this but it looks like a fun variation on traditional crumble at least. I like the idea of using gingernuts too.
