Our assignment for this week's Tuesday with Dorie was to make Classic Brownies, chosen by Anne Strawberry. There is a lot of divided opinion as to what is a "classic brownie", but these are made with chocolate, no cocoa, contain walnuts, and are cakey rather than fudgy.
Being an Australian, I don't have fixed views on what a brownie should be like, so I enjoyed these. My only disappointment is that there weren't enough of them!

Love brownies Cake Law and these look nice! gloria
I love Dorie's brownie recipes and these look lovely!
I loved them too! I wish I would have doubled the recipe!
I'm working up the courage to make these...that's a whole lot of chocolate going on. Happy that you liked them...am sure Mark will love them as well...when I finally get them made.
I'm glad they were a hit with you! Until I started reading food blogs, I didn't know that people had such strong opinions about brownies. Most of them are pretty good in their own way.
I agree! There were not enough!
I thought they were perfect, but I do love brownies!
Have a great week.
I may not have baked them long enough because mine were wet and fudgy inside. I know Dorie said a knife should come out dry but I had already gone over 5 minutes without it coming out dry. I took them out of the oven. I love them this way.
Yours look delectable.
Looking good! Mine disappeared way too quickly!
The fact that you wanted more is definitely proof of how good these were! :D
I think I would be very happy with these as classic brownies but I feel the same as you - never grew up making them so don't feel any strong allegiances - just want them rich, chocolatey and fudgy! Not too much to ask
Your brownies look gorgeous!
I enjoyed these very much. Next time I'd like to play around and add chocolate chunks for fun.
Glad you enjoyed them. I agree...there can never be enough brownies.
I'm with you, a rich chocolate brownie is yummy whether is cakey or fudgy. Your brownies look great, thanks for baking with me!
When the good stuff is gone, I often complain, too. They looked great!
In all honesty, the only brownies I've ever made came out of a box LOL (I really am my mother's daughter I guess).
*kisses* HH
Looking good - guess you'll have to make another batch soon! ;)
There can be quite a lot of discussion about the correct consistency of brownies with some people being utterly pedantic about them. I, on the other hand, will very happily eat a brownie of any style - especially if someone else has made it.
My mother loves brownies (probably more than any other baked good), so they were a common treat when I was a kid. She prefers the fudgy ones and I have to say that usually I agree! However, I've had some amazing cakey ones (people in Kansas are big on brownies, too), so I like to think I have an open brownie-mind. :-)
Love the look of your brownies!!!!:)
Oh my gosh, classic brownies indeed. These would last 5 minutes in my house.
Those look so deliciously gooey!
looks like the perfect brownie to me!
Perfect!! These were really good brownies.
