The cake is cut in half and filled with icing to make it double decker. The icing is made with icing sugar and homemade caramel sauce. For some contrast, I topped my cake with white chocolate bits.
This is a moist, light cake with yummy caramelised edges, and the gooey caramel frosting adds that bit extra. I liked this cake, but wouldn’t go so far as saying I loved it. It’s one for the caramel lovers.

Looks delicious. I love caramel but in small doses and preferably with chocolate - just a thin slice of this cake for me
ReplyDeleteThanks Johanna. Yep, it’s a delicious cake, but small slices are warranted
Delete"One for the caramel lovers..." so true...I am standing with my hand up as that would definitely be me. We thought it was very sweet so we cut. smaller pieces, but enjoyed every single bite of all that sweetness. Yours looks beautiful. I fully expected this week to see all the posts with chocolate incorporated somehow, so I was surprised that you used white chocolate, I love the look of that. So fun to have this as my birthday cake this year.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful birthday Kayte, and how wonderful that this cake was also your birthday cake!
