BWJ - Summer Vegetable Tart
This week's Baking with Julia recipe is Summer Vegetable Tart. It comprises a phyllo pastry shell filled with mushrooms, garlic, capsicum, onion and goats cheese. I made one mini tart just for me.
I thought this tart was fine taste-wise, although I had a fight with my very old phyllo while making it (hence the dishevelled appearance of my tart).
To see what the other BWJ bakers thought, visit the LYL section of the website.
This will be my last Baking with Julia for now, as I want to clear some space to concentrate on other things for a while.
I'm off to the market to get phyllo. This looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm....
ReplyDeleteThis might be called 'summer', but I think I'd love it now too. It looks delicious. Hopefully your extra time for other projects gives you a bit more flexibility / freedom too, for whatever your focus is over the next little while.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a tasty mix on top! I find that filo gets so hard to handle when it dries out :(
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY agree with you about the filo...what a pain! But I enjoyed the filling :)
ReplyDeleteMy tart wasn't pretty either, but it tasted great. Hopefully, we'll see you back with TWD after your break.
ReplyDeleteYour tart looks great - I am sure it also was! Strange to read you are taking a break from baking, you were one off the "old group" and I always loved reading yozr posts! Hope you will find the time to "clear up" and get everything in place, literally or not.
ReplyDeleteI always struggle with phyllo dough. Luckily it always seems to taste good anyway!
ReplyDeleteI love phyllo…but sometimes it can be very difficult to work with. It did taste good though!
ReplyDeleteI like that we got to use phyllo and didn't have to make pastry dough! That alone was a treat for me. Plus the veggies and goat cheese filling was yummy!
ReplyDeleteThe phyllo was not simple, but this was tasty!
ReplyDeleteHopefully we'll still see you on Fridays :-)
I never finish a packet of pastry and it annoys me having scraps leftover (I have puffed pastry in my freezer that probably is now unusable) so I understand about the filo - tart sounds good
ReplyDeleteam not surprised you are letting go of BWJ - you seem to do lots of challenges and significant dates and birthdays - don't know how you keep up
The phyllo was a pain! I did enjoy the filling though. I think it would be really nice in a regular tart/pie dough.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you for taking a break. These cooking groups take up a lot of time!
Yeah, the phyllo was definitely a pain. We'll miss you on Tuesdays!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!
