FFwD - Mustard Batons
This week's French Fridays with Dorie recipe (which happens to be Good Friday) is Mustard Batons. Just as it says on the tin, these are puff pastry sticks enclosing a thin spread of mustard and brushed with egg wash to brown them.
Warm, these tasted good. They's make a great alternative to nuts or chips on the snacks table at a party.
If you'd like to see lots of mustard batons, visit the LYL section of the FFwD website.
These were just too easy, weren't they?
ReplyDeleteI served these as an appetizer for Thanksgiving and they had vanished long before the turkey showed up...
sounds like a crazy idea that just might work - nice snack
ReplyDeleteYes, Cher, they were. I was tempted to give it a miss because I just thought, "why?", but they tasted surprisingly good.
ReplyDeleteHi Johanna - yep, crazy, I know, but it surprised me how good such a nothing combination could taste.
I loved how you put it... The nothing combination became quite a something affair, didn't it? My whole family loves these tasty batons!
ReplyDeleteThese would be so perfect for scooping up a delicious dip! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat puff on your batons! I just love an easy recipe...especially one that tastes SO good~
ReplyDeleteMustard and puff pastry? I think I'll have to try this myself with pastry scraps the next time I bake a tart. It sounds almost too odd to be true. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like these more as an appetizer than the nuts. They're filling but I don't feel the need to keep grabbing one after another. Great post!
ReplyDeleteFun, Tasty, Easy... I'll be playing around with other fillings.
ReplyDeleteGlad you decided not to skip this recipe. These are a favorite around here.
ReplyDeleteAh, a nice simple recipe. Sometimes its good to have some easy, disaster-proof snacks up your sleeve, no?
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Easter weekend.
*kisses* HH
I would be so excited to see these on a snack table at a party! Yum! It looks like yours turned out delicious!
ReplyDeleteI loved how easy these were and so chic to serve instead of chips or crackers with drinks.
ReplyDeleteThese were too easy to skip. Your batons look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese were just amazing. Nana and I loved them. Perhaps all the more so coming off the eclair week :) Seriously, these were just delicious and so incredibly easy. We can't wait to play around with other fillers and toppers on this keeper. Great job on your batons !
ReplyDeleteWeren't these such a nice change from all the baked treats we all have been making lately?! I like the flaky look of yours!
ReplyDeleteI agree, these are so perfect for a party. Easy and so good. I can't wait to make another batch.
ReplyDeleteI'm often surprised by Dorie's simpler recipes - so few ingredients, but so much flavour.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad I missed this recipe. Seeing your posts encourages me to try them soon :)
ReplyDeleteI liked these a lot. You're right - they would be great for a party!
