Today’s Tuesday with Dorie recipe is Brown Sugar Oat Squares.
Not dissimilar to Scottish flapjacks, these tasty albeit plain squares get their flavour from oats and brown sugar. By baking for a slightly shorter time, you get a soft, caramel like centre in the squares.

Oooh I like the sound of underbaking them slightly and have a caramel-ly inside! Yours look good and I love the little birds…reminds me of my brothers cockatiel when we were growing up! (Kim)
ReplyDeletemmm...I'll try and keep them a bit softer in the middle next time myself!
ReplyDeleteThe soft center sounds amazing! I need to try that!
ReplyDeleteI baked them for the shorter amount of time so they were nice and soft in the center.
