TWD - Cherry Crumb Tart
I am so excited by this week's Tuesday with Dorie recipe - Cherry Crumb Tart. I adore cherries, and even though they are out of season in Australia, we can readily get the imported American variety.
This tart comprises a tart shell filled with a kirsch flavoured frangipan and topped with pitted fresh cherries and streusel:
It takes a while to put together but it is so worth it - it is buttery, fruity, scrumptious goodness.
To see what the other Dorie bakers though of this tart, visit the LYL section of the TWD website.
It did take a while to make all the components but it was SO worth it. My new fruity fave!!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so delicious. I love cherries in almost all forms...and as my husband doesn't it means I get more of cherry dishes to myself ;)
ReplyDeleteEven though it takes a while, I appreciate being able to get all of the components made and ready for assembly in advance. This was delicious!
ReplyDeleteCherries are my favourite fruit so I would jump to make this, especially during cherry season. I think I've seen some at the markets but they might be American cherries?
ReplyDeleteWe loved this one but used raspberries. Yours looks so yummie
ReplyDeleteNice touch with the cherry-red bicycle!
ReplyDeleteHope the imported cherries did not set you back too much. Maybe you can make it again when cherries are in season. This was a great tart.
ReplyDeleteLooks delish! It does take some time to put together, but I think it's also a nice dish for a summer dinner party. Yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteCherries are the real deal in this tart. Not too many red fruits retain the brilliant red after baking. Love your tart and the red bike!
ReplyDeleteYour tart looks beautiful! I'm glad you enjoyed it - it was clearly worth the splurge on the cherries.
ReplyDeleteYour tart looks wonderful! I subbed with blueberries and even though they turned out delicious, I would love to try it with fresh cherries!
ReplyDeleteI giggled when I saw that bike--cute! And the tart looks wonderful...a little bit of summer in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI also adore cherries, Gaye! We loved this tart! Yours looks beautiful…great photos too!
ReplyDeleteGaye, I enjoyed the red/white checkered table cloth and the red bicycle just as much as I did reading about your tart. It looks delicious and I was happy you could find all the proper ingredients. It isn't easy cooking "against the grade", so to speak. You are, as always, a good sport about it. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteYour tart looks perfect. This went over well here as Jim loves his cherries.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth the extra effort! Love the bike!
ReplyDeleteI agree - so worth it!
ReplyDeleteThis one was definitely worth all the effort. I'm a huge fan of cherries, and this didn't disappoint!
