Lemon and Blueberry Madeleines

I have been a fan of Fanny Zanotti's writing for a long time.  I first started reading her blog, Foodbeam, when she lived in the Cote d'azur, then New Zealand, then back to France and then in London. When she started blogging at Like a Strawberry Milk, I continued to read as Fanny wrote about her career, her baking, and life.  Fanny is now in Sweden, and I still like to check in with her blog to read what she is up to and to marvel at her beautiful recipes and photographs.

When Fanny put out a book of her recipes, Paris Pastry Club, I knew I had to own it.  Beautiful baking plus whimsical story-telling - tick, tick, yes please.  It is a wonderful baking book that you can lose yourself in - just the kind that I like.

On the cover of Paris Pastry Club are some charming madeleines.  If you peek inside, you find out that they are lemon and blueberry madeleines.  I just happened to have some fresh blueberries the other day which were a little too tart for my liking to eat on their own, but which I figured would be perfect in Fanny's lemon and blueberry madeleines.  And so, another bake was born!

You can find the recipe for Fanny's lemon and blueberry madeleines online here.

There is nothing much else to say other than that these madeleines were delicious!  They are tiny mouthfuls of melting goodness which are impossible to resist, and it is hard to stop at just one.  Besides, little cakes don't count in calories, right?

If you would like to try your hand at making madeleines, this is a good recipe.  Don't worry if you don't have madeleine tins - the recipe makes 24, so I made 12 madeleines in the proper tin and 12 in a mini muffin tin.  Do yourself a favour and make these for your afternoon tea today.

  2. This sounds like a great book - I do like cook books that have appealing recipes but are also fun to read.
