Recently, The Guardian featured a recipe by Ruby Tandoh for jammy dodgers. I have recently discovered that the Eleventh Doctor liked jammie dodgers (the trademarked spelling of the name of these biscuits), and there were a number of Doctor Who episodes featuring those biscuits, one of which is depicted in this excellent montage:

While Ruby's recipe for jammy dodgers is not traditional, as it features almond meal, the end result is absolutely scrumptious:
I got 10 rather than 15 cookies, and my colleagues and I made short work of them:
If you like sandwich cookies, do try making some jammy dodgers - they taste delicious, and you can have lots of fun with the Doctor Who connection.
Jammy Dodgers look interesting and the story was a lot of fun! Always looking for new and interesting cookies for the guys as they love cookies! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNow here is a bikkie I want to try - I remember them (or similar bikkies) when I was young and the name is just a joy to say! Love your tardis mug too
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea adding almond meal! And I have lots of jam so this would be perfect for using it up :D
ReplyDeleteI love jammie dodgers and my only complaint is that my husband is lackluster about them - terribly so, I think, because he is a huge Doctor Who fan and I think he ought to try harder just to be patriotic!
ReplyDeleteJammy Dodgers look great but I kind of hate making cookies. When our boys were home I made them constantly and maybe I'm just burnt out. I would make them for our grandchildren but their parents don't allow them much sugar. I guess that's good for them, right?
ReplyDeleteGaye, I love baking cookies, no matter what time of year it is and your Jammie Dodgers look very tempting and so delicious to me! A great classic British biscuit!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post with a great recipe!
