Jammy Dodgers

Recently, The Guardian featured a recipe by Ruby Tandoh for jammy dodgers.  I have recently discovered that the Eleventh Doctor liked jammie dodgers (the trademarked spelling of the name of these biscuits), and there were a number of Doctor Who episodes featuring those biscuits, one of which is depicted in this excellent montage:

While Ruby's recipe for jammy dodgers is not traditional, as it features almond meal, the end result is absolutely scrumptious:

I got 10 rather than 15 cookies, and my colleagues and I made short work of them:

If you like sandwich cookies, do try making some jammy dodgers - they taste delicious, and you can have lots of fun with the Doctor Who connection.

  3. What a great idea adding almond meal! And I have lots of jam so this would be perfect for using it up :D

  4. I love jammie dodgers and my only complaint is that my husband is lackluster about them - terribly so, I think, because he is a huge Doctor Who fan and I think he ought to try harder just to be patriotic!

  5. Jammy Dodgers look great but I kind of hate making cookies. When our boys were home I made them constantly and maybe I'm just burnt out. I would make them for our grandchildren but their parents don't allow them much sugar. I guess that's good for them, right?
