FFWD - Waffles and Cream
For French Fridays with Dorie this week, we made our second last dessert recipe - Waffles and Cream. This recipe is basically what it says on the tin - homemade waffles, topped with cream or icecream, plus an optional sauce. I skipped the sauce and topped my waffles with strawberries instead.
What's not to like - I like waffles and I enjoyed this dessert. The only thing I would change is not to heat up my waffle pan until I am ready to cook, as mine got too hot and burned the first couple of waffles.
To see what the other Doristas thought of this dessert, visit the LYL section of the FFWD website.
It sounds simple but wonderful. I'd love this dessert!
ReplyDeleteI served mine with strawberries, too! Bill loved them :)
ReplyDeleteI have been tossing up whether to buy a waffle iron or not! Maybe I should! :D
ReplyDeleteStrawberries - mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteSimple is often best!
I debated about putting strawberries on mine, too! Looks lovely and glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteI've never made waffles (I don't have a waffle maker) but yours look like a good way to kick start the Easter weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou’re so right! What’s not to like? We enjoyed them with ice cream and raspberry sauce…yum!
ReplyDeleteAh waffles are just like pancakes - you always have to make a couple and sacrifice them at the start while you get the temperature "just right" :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is the best dessert for spring or summer. Or, I mean you could have it for breakfast too ;). I just love this.

I just love homemade waffles so much! These look like a perfect weekend breakfast.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious with the fruit! I made the wrong recipe, so I look forward to trying these soon.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this just fine but I could have done without the waffle iron wrangling.
ReplyDeleteI liked them crisp. I agree fruit was the way to go. Too rich for ice cream.
ReplyDeleteYour comment of "what's not to like" ? was my exact reaction when cooking this ! Great aroma, fab taste, easy...and not fish LOL. Love the strawberries.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious, Gaye. I don't even have a waffle iron to heat up, unfortunately. Reading everyone's Posts this week made me wantttt a waffle. Beg, borrow or steal but I cannot store one more piece of kitchen equipment in my tiny condo.
ReplyDeleteGaye, waffles and cream or ice cream are quite the treat aren´t they?! Nice to serve them with strawberries! Around here we are still waiting for the local stawberries. I think we all loved this recipe from Dorie´s book!
ReplyDeletewe burned the first few too! :)
