Daci & Daci Bakers, Hobart

As a home baker, there's nothing I like better than a bakery.  Accordingly, when I spied Daci & Daci Bakers in Hobart, I was like a moth to the flame.

Daci & Daci is housed in lovely old fashioned premises, replete with dark woodwork and a lovely winged chair in the window seat.  Its counters are packed to the rafters with all kinds of attractive-looking baked goods, sweet and savoury.  They are not cheap, but I am happy to pay for quality.

Here is just a smattering of the collection of goodies available in Daci & Daci:

On our first visit, Tim and I decided to try the Raspberry Caramel Crunch ($8) - a sable base topped with milk chocolate praline crunch, milk caramel toffee, raspberries and caramel mousse:

It was rather sweet, but that was expected.

I couldn't resist photographing these passionfruit and raspberry swirl pavlovas out to cool near our table - I so want to try making something like this myself:

On our second trip to Daci & Daci, we were there for lunch.  I ordered a lamb sausage roll, which came with a lovely tomato chutney on the side:

This sausage roll tasted as good as it looks, with beautiful crisp flaky pastry and a filling with just the right amount of spice.

I also could not resist buying a raspberry and passionfruit swirl meringue, which came with a side of vanilla icecream:

How gorgeous is that?  It tasted lovely too - being a meringue, it was mostly crisp and crunchy, and on taking a bite, shattered before melting in the mouth.

On our second visit, it was the day of the bikies' annual Christmas ride with toys for children.  I have never seen so many motor bikes in one place in my life:

We loved Daci & Daci with its beautiful baked goods arranged beautifully and housed in old fashioned surrounds.  We'd definitely go back.

  1. Wow, all that bakery goodness spread out before you, how did you choose?? I would have been there an hour just making a choice. The melt in your mouth meringue looks fantastic. See, if you had gone with me instead of Tim, you wouldn't have had to share that chocolate dessert! :-) Fun to read about Daci & Daci!

  4. When I saw all those goodies Gaye, my eyes immediately focused on I think it is called Tropicana. I couldn't make out the letters. I'm with Kayte, how did you ever choose, lol...

I think I would pass up all those sweet goodies for that Lamb Sausage Roll though. I adore lamb and let's face it, you "guys" do have the best, lol...

I got a kick out of seeing all those bikes. There are a lot of bike runs where I live so I'm use to see many together. I was thinking they would look different "across the pond" but, they don't lol...

Thank you so much for sharing, Gaye. Everyhting looks scrumptious!!!

P.S Marion is home and doing well...

  5. What a great collection of baked goods! I love it when interesting items are available and not just the standard cakes / muffins in expected flavours. It sounds like a good find.
