Red Velvet Cake from Sweet and Vicious - Take II
A little while ago, I made Libby Summers' red velvet cake from Sweet and Vicious for Edna's birthday. It was so good that I got a request to make it again from someone who hadn't tried it the first time - and I readily acceded.
The results are pictured at the top of this post - I think it went even better second time around with the same adaptations that I made last time (including making just one third of the icing).
Here are some of my colleagues enjoying the cake with me (the cake is sadly out of view):
This is my slice:
I was so disappointed when I dropped the last bite on the floor! This cake has the most wonderful smooth texture, a tangy taste, and goes perfectly with the cream cheese frosting. A perfect cake from my perspective.
this looks amazing. i always find red velvet cake hard to make tho. it always seems to end up dry and tasteless. maybe i just havent found a great recipe yet. i bet yours tasted wonderful.:)
ReplyDeleteNow that's red alright! Looks wonderful
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it has a great texture to it! Oh no re the last bite. Was that the best bit with lots of icing? I usually save that til last.
ReplyDeleteHi Lorraine, some of it had the icing on :(
ReplyDeleteI can imagine I would like to make this cake multiple times - looks amazing - love the colour - nice photo of you and colleagues too - and sounds like you need to make it again to comfort yourself about that last piece on the floor
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful looking cake, love the frosting!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am soooo behind on your delicious cooking. The cake looks scrumptious, so red and velvety. Your colleagues are very lucky!!
ReplyDeleteThat frosting is making me grin, it looks utterly delicious :D
ReplyDeleteCheers

The last bite on the floor! Oh no! At least it was the last bite I suppose - it would have been worse to drop the whole slice :P
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks so pretty...and your slice looks the best of all. I have always been intimidated by trying it as it usually has cocoa powder in it and I'm not a chocolate fan and figure it will just make it all taste like chocolate. Yours doesn't look like that at all...it just looks red and pretty!
