FFWD - Piperade Stir Fry and Tuna Rillettes

For this French Friday with Dorie, our recipe is the very colourful Piperade Stir Fry, made with all different colours of capsicum (peppers) mixed with raw red onion and red wine vinegar.

I hate raw onion, so I used cooked brown onion instead.  I also don't have any red wine vinegar, so I used balsamic vinegar instead.  I was pretty happy with the result, and ate it with my dinner of braised chicken with spiced rice:

I also did a catch up recipe from earlier this month - Tuna Rillettes:

Tuna Rillettes is a tuna spread.  I made just enough for one, and spread it on an English muffin for breakfast.  That is not what I normally like to eat for breakfast, but it was a way to get it done.  The tuna rillettes was quite tasty, although I found I needed more cream than I thought to make the paste spreadable.

Check out what the other Doristas thought of the Piperade Stir Fry by visiting the LYL section of the FFWD website.

Happy Friday to all.

  2. SNAP - yours and mine were prepared pretty much the same way! Don't like raw onion and didn't have red wine vinegar! I liked this a lot!

  5. Beautifully done! I liked this one, too...and let the raw onion warm up a bit with the peppers to decrease the bite! Enjoy your weekend!!!

  6. I thought the raw onions won't taste good, but the red onions sliced really thin were actually sweet. I am definitely curious about making this with balsamic vinegar. Glad you enjoyed it.

  8. I felt like this would be good with balsamic vinegar, so I'm glad that you confirm that. Looks perfect with your chicken and rice. I don't think I've ever had tuna for breakfast, but I'm glad you go this one done. I still have a few to catch up on.

  9. No judgement here, I've serverd tons of Dorie's recipes for breakfast, simply because that's when I had time to do it. Both recipes look great.

  10. I do not like raw onions either, that seems to be a trend. Tuna for breakfast, you are brave.

  11. No raw onions in this house either!

Breakfast tuna - I think it works.

    Have a great week.

  12. I cooked the onions, too. Balsamic sounds delicious with this recipe - I will try it when I make this again. I can see having the rillettes for breakfast, though I loved that recipe so much, I think I'd have it for any meal (except dessert).

  13. I'm all for that lovely pepper dish, I need to make that one for sure. You can have the tuna spread as I am an absolute pain about tuna in a can, can't stand it. Too fishy and tinny. You made it look as good as it could look, however!

  14. Your chicken and spiced rice dinner sounds excellent. I'm glad you enjoyed the accompanying peppers.
