FFwD - Dressy Pasta Risotto
The very first French Friday with Dorie for this year has set us the task of making Pasta Risotto. Why, may you ask, is it called Pasta Risotto? Well, it involves pasta being cooked in chicken broth until it absorbs nearly all the broth, just like a risotto, then mixed with cream and parmesan cheese.
The end result is a creamy, rich side dish or main course, depending on which way you look at it.
As Dorie suggested, I served this as a side dish with roast - roast pork for New Years Day. This was a fitting way to start the FFwD year.
To see what the other Doristas thought of this dish, visit the LYL section of the FFwD website.
Oh that sounds interesting, I think I like it more than rice risotto.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely delicious and a wonderful way to start the new year :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great start to the new year at FFwD!! A keeper is what it is!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of serving this with roast pork!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. It would be a perfect side dish. We ate it straight from the crock as a main. It was very tasty!
ReplyDeletepretty much this is going to be great with any roast but I love that you went with pork!
ReplyDeleteThat looks ready to be scooped up and eaten, Gaye. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteRoast Pork sounds wonderful with that…now if you were in the South of American you would include a side of black eyed peas and be all set with a traditional Southern New Year dinner. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI loved this! We paired with Dorie's duck breasts and it was terrific. Can't wait to make it again.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
I served mine with pork tenderloin on New years Day…great minds! We really enjoyed the creaminess of this dish…a hit with all! Yours looks wonderful! Happy New Year Gaye!
ReplyDeleteYour risotto looks delicious:) This was a favorite at my house. Happy New Year:)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the different pasta shapes everyone is using. I think this goes well with so many things. I had it one night with chicken and other with steak. Pork sounds great too. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteRoast pork sounds nice. I served mine with a salad but I will do it again and probably use it as a side. This is so versatile! Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea substituting cream cheese for mascarpone. This was a great dish - the family loved it. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWasn't this dish yummy? I like your idea of serving it with roast pork. I just loaded up and served mine with some focaccia and champagne. Not bad either. :) Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteFabulous dish as a side or a main! Happy New year!
ReplyDeleteI served mine with calf's liver with caramelised onions. It was divine!!!
ReplyDeleteI also served this as a side to the crown roast of pork we had for New Year's day- and it went wonderfully. That said, the boys like just reheating bowls of it plain so I imagine I will be serving this as a main dish in the future. Yummy either way. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very flexible dish, wasn't it? Just as much at home next to roasted meat as it would be along a plate of salad.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
It was good with BBQ ribs as well. Using spiral pasta was a good idea. I wonder how orzo would be.
ReplyDeleteGood with a roast, yeah, but I think it made for some wonderful hangover food!
