For French Fridays with Dorie this week, our recipe is Crispy Crackly Apple Almond Tart. Basically, this comprises a filo pastry base layered with butter and sugar, topped with an almond cream and apple slices, then glazed with apricot jam.
I served my tart warm with vanilla icecream, and also had it cold the next day. I enjoyed it immensely both ways, and except for the fact that I despise working with filo pastry, I would make it regularly.
I deleted the nice photos of the whole tart by accident, so here is a blurry one to give you an idea of what it is supposed to look like:

sometimes the recipes i see from french fridays with dorie look a little too experimental for my taste but this tart looks like something i would finish off in only a day...lol
ReplyDeleteThis looks really lovely...and now I want apple tart :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one as well - of course, anything with almond cream has to be good :-)
ReplyDeleteThe ice cream sounds like a perfect side.
I too love eating filo pastry and hate working with it - I've suddenly had an apple craving lately so this would go down very well with me
ReplyDeleteBlurry or clear, that looks like a delicious tart. I'll have to try the full-on version soon.
ReplyDeleteOh it looks good!
ReplyDeleteIce cream was the perfect way to serve this wonderful tart! Looks nice!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the tart so much, despite struggling or reluctantly working with the filo. The glaze catches on the light really nicely on that first picture - great contrast to the creamy ice cream.
ReplyDeleteIf I had ice cream on hand I would have definitely served it with my tart as well. Perfect combination! Your tart is lovely and I am glad you enjoyed this one. I hope you are having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo glad this was a hit! I love the idea of a warm slice with ice cream....mmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWasn't this a great recipe? I loved the almond cream and next time I will make it with apples instead of pears! Sorry about your photographs I understand the frustration it has happened to me many a time as well :(
ReplyDeletePhyllo is kind of a pain, but I do like the results. Looks good!
ReplyDeleteYum! I need to mark this one in my book to try soon!
ReplyDeleteThis was a wonderful tart…everyone in my house really enjoyed it, too! I really loved the almond cream. Yours looks lovely especially with that scoop of ice cream! Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteThe filo dough was kind of a pain, so much tearing at every step. But it did taste good. I'm interested in trying it with puff pastry and almond cream. Ice cream tops this one so perfectly. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThis dessert does make the fuss and bother of phyllo pastry worth it. Yours looks delicious, blurry photo or no. I think we can all relate to accidental photo deletions - the bane of the blogger.
