FFwD - Moules marinières
Yes, I know what you are thinking - this week's FFwD recipe was mussels and chorizo with or without pasta. Uh huh, but I made the wrong recipe - so instead I present you with moules marinières (mussels in white wine).
This was quick and easy and tasty - I am not that fond of mussels, so I won't make it again soon, but the broth was especially good. I combined my microwaved steamed veges with the leftover broth, which was an excellent way to lend flavour to the vegetables. I hope you all enjoyed the mussels and chorizo with or without pasta.
Visit the LYL section of the FFwD website for takes on this week's FFwD recipe - the right one.

Oh, you might not be a mussels fan, but I am definitely a mussels fan. I can make them by the dozens here and no one complains at all. They are flown in twice a week at a seafood restaurant and I have a deal with the owner that I get three dozen once a month on the day they arrive, he calls me special. That's how much I love mussels. These look delightful.
ReplyDeleteI made the mussels and sausage - it was very good, but I think next time some other shell fish is going to need to stand in. The mussels were more work than I was up to...
ReplyDeleteI am sure the mussels cooked in white wine were very tasty!
I love mussels, but I do agree that the broth is one of the best parts of the whole process. I always serve mine with lots of bread to sop it up.
ReplyDeleteAfter making this tomato mussel sauce, it was glad I did because I had been hesitant to cook with live seafood before. I'll be looking forward to when we get to use mussels again in the dish you made!
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic!
ReplyDeleteI love moules marinieres but I've never made it. If you don't even like mussels and you thought this recipe was tasty, it must be pretty fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWe love mussels and this was a real treat for my husband. Such a tasty sauce...will definitely make these again! Kudos to you for making this when you're not a big fan...I would have had to pass! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteSince I put extra chardonnay in mine, I know that I would enjoy this version. Your bowl of mussels looks inviting. I hope you get a chance to make the chorizo version because the sauce was so very tasty.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you :) I don't really like mussels either but will eat it if it's in my marina pasta ~ Thanks for making this recipe and sharing it with us even though you don't like mussels ~
ReplyDeleteOh what a shame you aren't that fond of mussels but good on you for trying it! :D
ReplyDeleteI am a mussel fan and this is up there as one of the classics! I am drooling at the last photo!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the leftover broth to steam vegetables. I really enjoyed the mussels and chorizo and (since I love mussels) want to have a go at this recipe, too. Thanks for the preview!
