Not for the first time, I was hesitant about this week's French Friday with Dorie dish. Cold fruit soup? Even in summer, I'd never order this at a restaurant.
Basically, this dish is rockmelon pureed with grated ginger and salt, and topped with rockmelon balls and strawberry - I skipped the mint.
I found the combination of ginger and rockmelon rather strange, and this just wasn't my thing.
I think that's the first time I have heard it called a "rockmelon" - cool name.
ReplyDeleteI had to work through this one a couple of times - who knew that pureed fruit could be so "not simple"?
Your cold melon berry soup looks great. I gave this a miss this friday coz I could not get the cold melon :( Have a great day:)

Shame you didn't enjoy it, because it looks pretty enough!
ReplyDeleteSorry that this wasn't your thing-but your melon soup looks inviting in that martini glass!
ReplyDeleteAs always, it looks lovely! Too bad you didn't enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI've had a cold strawberry soup (in Eureka Springs, AR) that was very good, but being no fan of most melons, I don't think this would appeal to me, either! I was halfway tempted because it's so pretty, though.
ReplyDeleteI like how you served your soup in a martini glass as well! Sorry this wasn't up your alley. It looks great, though!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've had many cold fruit soups. I don't know if they would my kind of thing either! :P
ReplyDeleteIt looks so festive in a martini glass! I skipped the ginger in mine because half of us like ginger and the other half don't care for it at our house.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Drop me an e-mail please. You're an August host! iahawk89 at comcast dot net.
ReplyDeleteShame the flavours didn't excite you as it looks so elegant in that glass.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNever had pureed rockmelon. Interesting dessert. Looks great, pity about the taste.
ReplyDeleteMe and my family would agree with you on this melon soup. The ginger just did not go with the melon. Cold soup was refreshing in the summer heat though.
