Don't you just love the alliteration of "Pecan Powder Puffs"? I think it's just gorgeous, so when our host this week, Tia of Buttercream Barbie, chose Pecan Powder Puffs for this week's Tuesday with Dorie, I had to use pecan nuts in keeping with the name.
These tiny cookies are a modified version of Mexican Wedding Cakes, but are made with ground pecans instead of the usual almonds, and are rolled into tiny marble sized balls. The finished cookies are but a puff of flavour and then are gone.
I thought these were lovely, and they disappeared quickly at work. Sandra, my official taste tester, said that they were "beautiful".
To check out the recipe, buy the book or visit Tia's site, and to see what the other TWD bakers thought of these, visit the TWD website.
We loved them too. It was fun popping them in my mouth one by one:) they just melted away...:)). Im glad the co workers enjoyed them
ReplyDeleteThese look great. I bet the pecans gave them a nice and different flavor. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous, fabulous cookies.
ReplyDeleteI had to practice extra self control to not eat. every. single. one.
I have enjoyed looking through your recent posts ( I haven't had that much time lately). Firstly I have to thank you for your glimpse of Melbourne as I think it is our holiday destination for this year - maybe July or September.
ReplyDeleteGreat DB's challenge - I love bread but I preferred it without the meringue. And yes, I bought sugar plums, too. Aren't they so sweet and delicious?
Love the tricolour pasta. My local deli sells it too so I must pick up a packet next time I'm there.
Ok, now powder puffs - yours look delish! I call them mexican wedding cakes. Being that you're an aussie, do you know of the sponge cake type powders puffs? They are a very old fashion recipe and really lovely. A bit of a trick to make though. I will post them one day.
Have a nice day!
I bet they are delicious with the pecans. They look delightful!
ReplyDeleteI was lazy and made mine with almonds. This was a tasty recipe.
ReplyDeleteThese look so cute! And I've had those Mexican wedding cookies on hold for a friend or relative that is getting married (hehe hurry up someone!) :D
ReplyDeleteI love pecans and these Mexican Wedding Cakes remind me of kourabiedes which were also offered during weddings in Greece.
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look fabulous! My dough is resting in the fridge-to be baked later this evening. I guess if I would have read the instructions before 6am this morning, I would have seen that the dough needed at LEAST 2 hours to chill out. Oh well-my post will be up later today!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look perfect on that happy plate and I love that you could use any kind of nuts, how fun! Great job!
ReplyDeleteCiao cara ! Your puffs are fantastic ! When will I start working with you ?
ReplyDeleteaww i'm so glad you liked them. thanks for baking along with me this week. take care.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is right!
ReplyDeleteI made these with almonds, ignoring how that would change the title. I took mine to work too, and they didn't last long at all.
ReplyDeleteI brought these to work too, and they were popular with my coworkers. I used a small amount of almonds with the pecans, so I called them "nut puffs."
ReplyDeleteAm catching up on your posts this morning...can you tell?? Not commenting on all of them, but reading all of them...eally nice things you are creating over there. These look great...and on that plate they look like a party! 32 was not nearly enough for these guys, they were way too easy to pop into their mouths!
