This week's Tuesday with Dorie is hosted by none other than the Chocolatechic herself, Tanya. Now it wouldn't be right if Tanya hadn't chosen a chocolate recipe, and she chose a very rich, chocolatey, decadent one at that - namely, Rick Katz's Brownies for Julia.
Wow, what can I say - these brownies pack a chocolate punch. You only need a small square to be satisfied. They are very fudgey and, until they've been in the fridge for 4 hours or so, quite gooey in the middle. I made an error of judgement in deciding to bake them an hour and a half before our body corporate barbecue, and had to make do with taking the ones around the edges which did not ooze their contents. These were not very pretty - as you can tell from the photo at the top of the post. But heck, they tasted good!
The remaining brownies went into the fridge, and firmed up nicely. They ended up definitely more like fudge than cake.
Thanks to Tanya for hosting this week - she'll have the recipe. And check out how the other TWD members went by visting the TWD blogroll.
Im glad you enjoyed this recipe. I was pleased with them too. Very yummy and I will make them again!
ReplyDeleteGooey fudgy brownies are my favorite! I think throwing some toffee chips in there would be tasty too...yum!
ReplyDeleteI think most brownies I make fall into the 'ugly but delicious' category! We loved these too.
ReplyDeleteI baked mine in a pan that makes 12 individual brownies and then over-baked them by 5 minutes or so (unintentionally!). They were actually about perfect! I will post my wrap up and pics later tonight.
ReplyDeleteI love how they look in the first picture. All oozy and gooey... sigh, it's too early for this particular craving :(
ReplyDeleteI made mine in an 8x8 and had the same problem, but I did bake a little bit it a ramekin and OMG that was awesome! Ice cream and chocolate sauce and a warm gooey brownie? Holy cow! :)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely make them again, too. Very rich and chocolaty.
ReplyDeleteThese were good. But they were just too fussy to make again. I'll eat yours. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and these things look mighty pretty to me :D
ReplyDeleteGoopy goodness.
These do look great, very yummy and decadent. We enjoyed them a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter would love this.
ReplyDeleteoh yum - everybody loves brownies and these look great! Squidgier the better!!!
ReplyDeleteooh they look so oozily decadent - I bet your fellow residents were impressed
ReplyDeleteI'd make them again, too, in fact I have made them for the guys three times already as they love them! Yours look like mine, so I am relieved as I thought I had failed with these. Not a lover of chocolate, I never taste and know what I am doing with these chocolate recipes so I depend on all of you to set me in the right direction! Yours look very chocolatey and lovely.
ReplyDeleteYours look great!! I'm with you--mine were not lookin' so hot, but they were DELICIOUS! Will definitely make them again!
ReplyDeleteI had a conversation just this weekend with a friend who loves gooey brownies. I may need to try this. :)
ReplyDeleteI love fudgy brownies!
ReplyDeleteThese brownies were extremely delicious!!!!! Yours look gooey and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI do have a weakness for brownies, but now can't shift from a tried and true recipe from the famous Baked book. I love a chewy brownie, not a fudgey one. Though I'm sure I could manage a square - or 10! - of this chocolately overload!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, they look gooey in a good way.
ReplyDeleteGotta love that last minute baking-for-an-event.
Yours look just like mine, except for the one I carefully cut for the photo. Glad you enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteI like them fudgy rather than cakey so yours must be perfect.
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks really rich!! I feel like grabbing a slice from the screen now.
ReplyDeleteCiao ! I love your brownies ! They must have been a hit !!
ReplyDeleteLook really yummy Cake Law. I love this. Dear when have time stopping at my blog and look, I have some awards for you, xx gloria
ReplyDeleteLooks like you and me were on the same wavelength with the paper sling.
ReplyDeleteMmm, your brownies look delicious! I had an opportunity to chill mine overnight and they sliced nicely, but I would never turn down a gooey brownie.
ReplyDeleteI love these kinds of brownies where you're satisfied with just a small square! Surely that's a good thing for us? :D
ReplyDeleteThey were just so fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMine are gone...gone...gone!
Yum!! Nothing better than a chocolate punch brownie with gooey insides. Heaven.
ReplyDeleteThese were fudgy for sure! It was so hard to know when they were baked enough. Mine held their shape, but just barely.
