TWD - Hot Chocolate Panna Cotta

For Tuesday with Dorie this week, the recipe was Hot Chocolate Panna Cotta, being the second alternate February recipe.

I wasn't particularly excited about making this, particularly when the mixture looked like chocolate milk (I hate chocolate milk).  When it set up, it tasted OK, but despite some vigorous sieving, the mixture still had a slightly grainy texture, and I wasn't keen on the gelatine in this application.

I decorated my panna cotta with a dollop of plain yoghurt and a raspberry to give it some visual interest.

I think I'm so over the heat just the idea of hot chocolate makes me think of cooler weather and made me excited! I really like this recipe but I really like hot chocolate as well, so I think that helps!

Sounds like you weren't so keen on this. Interesting that you don't like chocolate milk. I love chocolate but am less keen on chocolate flavoured things.

I will agree that this did have a slightly grainy texture, but I loved the application of chocolate here (texture aside) so I didn'the mind too much. Sorry to hear you didn'the enjoy it.

I actually loved the flavour of this but yes, mine was a bit grainy too!

I think you do have to like milky hot chocolate to enjoy these. Kudos for trying them anyway.

Mine also had a slightly grainy texture. Although, I did enjoy the deep, dark chocolaty flavor! As a child I really never cared for chocolate...but as an adult I love anything chocolate! Happy Tuesday, Gaye!

I have had grainy results with gelatin, too. But if chocolate is involved, my family wouldn't even notice! I need to try this one :)

You are a trooper for making it even though you don't like chocolate milk. I guess this will not be a repeat for you. Looking forward to what we will be making next month.

Yes, mine did have a bit of a graininess to it - despite straining.
The thought of someone not liking chocolate milk makes me smile :-)

Mine had some graininess to it too. Despite straining. I love hot chocolate so I enjoyed it. Sorry you didn't care for it but they can't all be winners can they?

You are a trooper indeed if you went in for this one without liking chocolate milk. Well done. I actually wish I didn't like chocolate milk, or ice cream or pudding or chocolate anything LOL - but I will say that it brings me pleasure. Onward to the orange cake !

I finally got around to posting about this one. I enjoyed it, but I can see why you might not be too crazy about this one.
