TwD - Apple pielets

Our Tuesdays with Dorie recipe this week was apple pielets.  These are, as the name suggests, tiny apple pies baked in muffin tins.

Dorie suggested on her website that you would have dough left over, and to use it to make a galette.  I had no dough left over, but I had heaps of leftover apple, so I made a galette using a sheet of store bought puff pastry to use up the apple:

These little pielets smelled so buttery and good, and tasted just like they smelled.

To see what the rest of the group thought of these little pie, visit the LYL section of the TWD website.

  3. Hi Johanna, You know I am good at typos, especially when I am posting on my mobile, so that was a reasonable assumption!

  5. Nice job! I had leftover dou h and thought of making a second tart but didn't because my cravings for fruit related desserts are not really there right now. Now that I am seeing everyone else's I am thinking I should have! Oh well. Next time!

  6. I like the idea of making galette. Your pielets have nice caramelized rings around them.

  7. I loved how you used up the leftover fruit (I just ate mine straight from the bowl!)

  8. I did not have any dough left over, and I only made 9 pielettes the first time. I do want to prepare more of that dough recipe and make a
regular gallette, they look so rustic. Both of your results turned out well.

  9. These were good, weren't they? I had dough left over, but no apple mixture - my apples were on the small side, I think. I put the dough in the freezer for now, but there's a galette in my future. Your pielets look so good and it was a great idea to use puff pastry for the leftover apple galette.

  10. Yum- yours look great. And I LOVE the idea of having used puff pastry for the extra apples - genius and just wish I had thought of that. I had a bunch of apples left and even had puff pastry in the freezer. Oh well, at least now I will know for the next time !

  11. Leftovers are the best because you can make more! These were fun but mine were a little dry. I got some useful tips so I will try these again at some point.
