TWD - Chocolate Cherry Brownies

Our recipe for Tuesdays with Dorie (Baking Chez Moi) this week is Chocolate Cherry Brownies.

I had done a Google search on these, so I was expecting them to be sensational - and I was not disappointed.

Instead of dried cherries, which are hard to find here, I used half dried cranberries and half dried goji berries (because that is what I had to hand), and sprung for a bottle of cheap port to boil the fruit in.

The end result of this brownie recipe was fabulous - the brownies totally lived up to their hype.  They are rich, chocolatey and moist.  Tip - mine took 15 minutes more to bake than Dorie's suggestion.

These sound and look delicious, Gaye! I have dried cherries in the refrigerator ready for the recipe. Thanks!

How did you get them cut so perfectly? Mine cooked in 30 minutes. They are pretty moist. I think mine had a few too many cherries in them! Yours look so perfect.

Goji berries! What a clever idea! Did you find that it affected the flavour in any way?

Goji berries are a great idea! I love their tartness and I bet they were great in the brownies.

They are very good, and recipe isvon the Web.

Thanks! I baked them until the batter didn't run into the centre when poked with a tester.

No - the goji berries were pleasantly tart and added texture from the seeds.

Thanks! They were good.

Yup mine took longer as well but was pretty amazing!

I would never have thought to use goji berries! Looks like most of us find that the brownies needed some extra minutes in the oven! We've enjoyed these brownies too!

Mine also took longer to bake, than the recipe called for. They were divine, and definetly lived up to the hype!!

Your brownies look perfect! I bet the goji berries were amazing. Mine took way longer than 15 minutes, too.

Aw...chocolate, they really look very chocolatey and gooey and I know the guys would love them!

I thought these were delicious too. It seems just about everyone had to increase the baking time.

I baked mine in the thirty minutes, but I've been paranoid about overbaking since I watched a Cook's Country episode about brownies! These definitely lived up to the hype!

You are right they did live up to the hype. The were rich and company worthy.

No idea what a goji berry is but I'll have to keep my eye out for them-sounds good.

These do sound fabulous! I like your cherry substitutes although would love them with cherries too.

I had to look up goji berries because I've never heard of them. The brownies look great and I'm sure adapted well to your improvisation.

I haven't made these yet, but they are definitely on my "to-make" list! Yours look beautiful!

These were great, weren't they? It's interesting how everyone found the correct baking time to be so different. Mine were very underdone after Dorie's suggested time, so I baked them a few extra minutes, but I definitely like brownies under-cooked.
