FFwD - Ispahan Loaf Cake

This week, our French Fridays with Dorie project was the Ispahan Loaf Cake that was longed for by many.  This cake, inspired by a Pierre Herme creation, is a rose flavoured almond flour cake with a secret stash of raspberries hidden in the cake batter. It is a lovely moist cake, and the rose flavour is not at all overwhelming.

I found this cake easy enough to make, although for some reason it stuck to the base of the tin - I just stuck the torn part back on and disguised it with a simple glace icing.

This cake was really good, although it did not elicit any enquiries for the recipe.

To see what the other Dorie bakers thought of this cake, visit the LYL section of the FFwD website.

I'm in the middle of baking a second one of these because my first one was an epic fail. Not quite sure what went wrong but am sad because I was looking forward to this a lot. Yours looks great and I love the idea of the glaze!

I tried to use my glaze to disguise where I dropped it and cracked it when flipping it out of the plan :-) It didn't hide it but it tasted good!

My Mum makes a cake like this! But with cherries instead of raspberries - the inside looks just the same though, and the almond flavour is really key. I love it.

It looks delicious, full of goodness and tasty...I laughed about your "fix" for the stuck part...oh, how often I have had to do a fix! It's amazing what photographs can hide or not hide...lol. The taste counts...and this one looks lovely and delicious!

This one didn't tickle my taste buds, though I wonder if a glaze would have helped me. Yours in the last post I've gotten to, and for some reason, my cake is the only one that is pink, really pink. Interesting. Glad that you liked it well enough.

Can you believe my hubby loved this one! I liked it, but not sure I will ever be a huge fan of those rosy flavors. Hope you're enjoying your weekend~

I have a feeling you share most of the sugary stuff you make with your office. They are the lucky ones. Perhaps they didn't ask for the recipe because people seem to think that this is a complicated, so to speak, cake to make. Well, it isn't your average Betty Crocker mix, is it? Your cake looks good. I like the idea of glaze. There's enough confectionary sugar in the cake!

This one was a big hit here. A glaze would´ve been nice, it looks neater! And you certainly did a better job than me with those rows of raspberries!

It looks really good with the glaze. We might have liked it with a glaze or whipped cream.

Your cake looks good, nice touch to add a glaze!
Mine fell apart when I took it out of the pan and it sort of sunk down on the top-overall it looked pretty bad ;-(
I decided not to remake it. I'm glad you were happy with your cake, I will just have to live vicariously through your baking success ;-)
