Minted zucchini tagliatelle with cucumbers and lemon

It's Friday, and I wanted to announce that chivalry is not completely dead.  I was struggling with a suitcase at the railway station this morning, and a young man in his twenties asked me if I was alright.  I said that I was (I wasn't really), but if I had said no, it sounds as if he would have gladly helped me to lift it up the stairs.  Thank you kind sir, you made my day.  The simple act of asking me if I was alright is such a rare thing in the hurly burly of city life, and I appreciate it.

This week's FFwD recipe was minted zucchini tagliatelle with cucumbers and lemon.  It is not actually pasta, as I first thought - it is thin strips of zucchini with chunks of cucumber in a tangy dressing.

I don't have much to say about this - I really didn't like it much, so I stir fried it and ate it as a warm side.

To see what everyone else thought about this dish, visit the LYL section of the FFwD website.

Well, it looks pretty...and it is nice that you gave an alternate use for it...I was wondering about it as well, seemed a little bland. Guess I will find out when I make it. Love that bowl you have it in.

I would not have thought of serving this warm - but I like the thought of that.

I love that story about the offer with your bag. Those things make my day too! I also love the look of this dish - I had zucchini tagliatelle (not that I called it that in my mind at the time, but I'm re-christening it now ;) ) with spinach ricotta during the week and I'm quite taken with the concept.

Sorry, you didn't love it or even like it! Sometimes that's the way it goes with the FFWD recipes, although most of them are favorites in our home:-)Have a wonderful weekend:-)

Was it good as a warm side dish? There was really nothing abut this salad that I liked - raw zucchini isn't my style, I guess. I suspect you left out the onions. Probably another good idea. Next time, let the guy carry your bag up the stairs. It would probably have made his day also. Making him feel very good about helping you out.

Sorry to hear this didn't work for you, but it's nice to know that it can be repurposed as a stirfry.

It's interesting how a stranger's kindness can make a lousy situation better - just a little bit of human connection can keep us going.

It's so true that the smallest kindnesses can make such a difference. That would have made my day too:-)

Oh, I´ve been in a suitcase situation like yours quite a few times! Not a great salad for me either. Have a nice weekend!

Glad you stir-fried this because I had to oven roast my veggies. No way I was eating raw onions.

Seems like this was NOT a favorite for lots of this week (me included). I think if it had actually been pasta, it might have been more interesting. Have a great week.
